​We would like to let you know about a small change in how we’ll be handling out-of-hours emergencies.

Since opening in 2012, we’ve always provided 24/7 emergency care for our clients 365 days a year. However, over time the demanding nature of this work has begun to take a toll on our small dedicated and hardworking team. We want to ensure our team stays healthy and happy so we can continue providing the best care for your pets for many years to come.
 

We are very proud to be an independent practice and remain fully committed to staying that way. We love what we do, and we are passionate about continuing to provide great animal care. We are also very excited about our plans to grow and invest further in the practice, including extending and upgrading the practice to become a small animal hospital in the near future.
 

From now on, we will continue to provide our own emergency cover as follows
Monday to Friday from 6pm to 9pm, and on Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays from 9am to 5pm. On Saturdays, we will still be open as usual from 9am to 1pm,  and then on call until 5pm for emergencies.

Outside of these hours, Limerick Night Vets will assist with emergency cover. They are currently based on Henry Street, Limerick and they will be moving to a larger premises in Castletroy in 2026 and will have a CT scanner on site. They have an experienced team of vets and nurses working throughout the night, and your pets will be in very capable hands.

Limerick Night Vets currently provides out-of-hours care for 26 veterinary clinics across Tipperary, Clare, and Limerick. They will send us full notes the following morning for any of our patients they see overnight — ensuring seamless continuity of care.

This change affects only around 2% of our caseload, but it will make a big difference to our team’s well-being and work life balance.
We know this is a change and we want to thank you for your understanding. This decision wasn’t made lightly and it reflects our commitment to both high quality patient care and the wellness of our team.
